In search of work-out sponsors

Prash and I have been wanting to hit the gym since long. After all, this filmy couple's gonna get married soon and the love they share (read, the love for good food) has started showing in various proportions all over the body ;)
Although I am very much a 'walk at the nearby park' person, my morning walks aren't yielding the same results they used to a until year ago. Realisation dawned when it struck that instead of waking up and going for a walk in the morning, I usually dream about it these days. Yawn!
But the idea of working out with Prash(who is this handsome guy with all his happiness and prosperity NOW showing on his tummy; not to mention his ever-increasing affection for me showing on his cheeks) in itself was a great motivator. Did i just say MOTIvator?
Anyways, after thinking and rethinking and yet again wasting over a month talking about the scanty gyms in town with their hefty prices, the conversations (as expected) started veering towards the variety of breakfasts we can have after slogging out at the gym in the mornings. All this, without even taking the pain to enroll anywhere.
This very morning I asked my sweetheart whatever happened to our gymming plans and I find him wondering aloud "I am waiting for a sponsor. Is there anybody in this world who wants to see a handsome couple in-shape?"

Who wants to grow up, mamma?
Kids! OMG..the ones i've happened to meet have always outsmarted their age, far beyond our imagination. From giving the perfect solution to myriad problems of life, including social issues, to a boxful of innocent, weird list of query to which most grown-ups fumble for an answer, there is no beating their high EQ (read Entertainment Quotient). Take for instance my niece Sanya, who was handed her parents' wedding album just so that she would give some time out to my cousin with a perfect bod, thanks to a six-year-old seven days a week. After dilligently looking at all the pics and identifying most guests at the reception, this kid's curious on why she wasn't invited to such an important occasion of the most important people in her life. After many failed attempts to make Sanu understand that she wasn't born to be able to attend the wedding, the kid starts wailing as to why her mommy and daddy couldn't wait for her to arrive so that she could also be a part of the wedding and show the album to her friends:). Even as my sister ponders over how to remedy this instant errupt of emotion, the smart little girl gets her recently clicked snap in which she looks the best and tells mommy to "paste it between the two of you". And they continued to live happily ever after... I really doubt if kids are the epitome of innocence and ignorance anymore. They know and demand to know everything to the core. My boss's daughter takes the cake when it comes to knowing it all. The other day, Aashna, as she's called, had just come from school and was having lunch while her mom was talking to the maid about how a day-old girl child was found abandoned by a lake in the city. The mom and the maid were discussing sympathetically how mean it is to abandon a child, how the attitude towards girl child in the country has still a long way to go before it changes completely and all that. That's when the maid comments that it's better not to have a child in the first place than trash it as soon as it arrives, oblivious of the fact that a five-year-old in the background is actually listening to the entire conversation. It's only when the kid offers her opinion on how "if you do not want a child, you can always take an iPill, an emergency contraceptive pill" that both women stare at each other for a time that is anything but still.

yesterday & today...
Got a DVD of 'A Wednesday' on Prash's reco in the afternoon. Thought it would be just like the other movies made on bomb blasts. But no, this was one's different. What starts a terrorist's attempts to plant bombs across Mumbai, as shown in the movie, does not catch you by surprise. But soon, the movie starts gripping you when you realise that the terrorist is nobody but a common man who demands action in the face of the ugly acts by some @#$%^&* who think it's a good idea to get back for whatever injustice meted out to them by taking innocent lives. The movie has beautifully portrayed nuances from everyday life where we just do not feel safe anywhere anymore. And the best part about the movie is that it has made an effort to change the mindset that is attached with a particular community. A Wednesday definitely sets you thinking and raises inevitable questions: Why do we feel helpless when terror strikes? Why are the authorities we have voted left with nothing but consolatory speeches when terror strikes? And why do we repeat the same mistakes in spite of being assaulted in every possible manner?
Shutting the system down, I wish A Wednesday becomes the 'national movie'... even as images of the Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi and many more blasts come back to the mind!
Today, November 27, Thursday
Terror strikes Mumbai...again! We spent the entire Wednesday night watching live reports of the devastation that the terrorists were spreading across in the heart of the country. Officials are counting the number of those dead, wounded and martyred, authorities are bullshitting about the resilience power of the people, even as media is keeping everyone 'posted' on 'live feeds' from the 'spots'...But a ray of hope is the commandoes who are getting closer to the assaulters by the minute. And this is not the first time that i wish life was more like a Hindi movie...!
